This all feels like people trying to discuss politics or religion. Rarely will one person change their beliefs from hearing a different view. I only know what I feel. First that Bess survived feels wonderful. Second is sorrow over her terrible ordeal. Third, I've been there. I sold my condo when the association found out I had 4 cats. One of which was a feral (outside) cat I named Winston. He was a beautiful long hair tux. I purposely bought a house on a dead-end street thinking it would be safe for him. After about 2 months living here, he was hit by a neighbor. None of my cats go out now. But they are sneaky. Summer got out one evening and I didn't even know. In the morning when I did a head count - she was nowhere to be found. It took a day and a half to find her in the bushes in the back yard. Ten feet from my bedroom window. She was terrified, the sprinkler system even ran and got her wet. Anyway, sometimes I can't choose who I think is right or wrong and try to look at the good - Bess is alive.

Secret Paws

We've been cruising around checking out everyone's Secret Paws gifts. Everyone is just so amazingly generous. Yea CB cats! One thing we have noticed is almost all the kitties eyes are very dilated! High on nip! HeHe.

See, see? See what Santa Paws brought us?

Our secret paws (Jewelgirl) sent us presents! We got a cube (that Romeo seems to have claimed already), 3 orange stripey balls, a pretty star for hanging up for Christmas (plastic beads that won't break when we whap it) and mom even got a pretty cat pin she can wear with a scarf or something. We are so very happy we have such a generous secret paws person. Thank you lots and lots.

Lovely surprise in the mailbox today. A package from our secret Santa Paws! Jewelgirl is our secret Santa :) I'll post pictures of our goodies as soon as I can. This past week has been very hard to get through, but things are looking better.

So this was a first for me.

I had to go to the dentist's office to get 2 crowns done. After it was all over, my dental hygienist comes over to me and gives me a Christmas present!! The book"Dewey". The one about the library cat. We always talk about our cats, but I was so pleasantly surprised when she gave me the book. Cat people are the best people.

Such a sad day.

I wish I could write what my heart is feeling. My thoughts are with those who have lost a member of their family.

Sophie's story

It all started with a normal trip to Petsmart. I try to hurry past the kitties up for adoption, but yesterday I peeked in. There was a beautiful long hair tuxie girl that was 6 1/2 yo. She was so sweet and loving. I stayed in there way too long. All the way home I thought about her. All night long I thought about her. I even gave her a name. Marlo. So I go back today to get her. I know, I need another cat like I need a mole with hair on my nose. BUT, she's gone!! I missed her by 45 minutes. Not meant to be. So I start scritching a pretty calico girl and one employee after another comes in and tells me her story. She's been in that cage 2 months, she's affectionate and a beauty. SOLD. Her name is Sophie, she's 1 yo and she's a leaner. She rubs and leans against my legs. She has beautiful gold eyes, but she manages to blink with the camera flash...

Jeannie's story

Jeannie joined our family on February 3, 2009. I was looking at all the kitties in our area that needed forever homes. Something about her sweet little face made me keep going back to look at her again and again. I still don't know why, but I sent off an email asking about her. I told myself if it was meant to be, then what's one more furkid? I received an answer to my email saying she was a feral kitty and had been asked about many times, but since she wasn't a lap cat, nobody wanted her. Well we've been down that road many times and I was able to adopt her. Jeannie had been living on a golf course and had at least 2 litters of babies. All her babies were caught and have forever homes. She is about 5 years old, and is a very tiny, delicate girl.

Babe's story

Babe is one of the feral cats my Mom caught. She was Mom's cat along with her other two. After Mom passed, I took care of all three of her cats. Her two original cats went to the rainbow bridge very shortly after Mom died. She had Babe for eight years and I've had her now for nine more years. Babe is my CRF girl. When she was first diagnosed with CRF I thought I'd only have her for a few more weeks, but she has surprised both me and the vet and is doing great with only sub-q fluids three times a week.

Romeo's story

I found Romeo online. I received an email from a friend about him. His Mom was in a nursing home and not coming back (she didn't know she was staying there forever). So her family was trying to find a home for Romeo. She had an attorney that was to find a good home for Romeo if anything ever happened to her. I had to actually apply to get him. References and essay about me. Once her family had me checked out I was able to pick him up at the attorneys office. I had only been told he was 5 years old and very fluffy. Turned out he's a pure himalayan. I don't think he had ever seen another cat until I brought him home. He's very friendly and is best friends with Bob and Jeannie.

Isis's story

Bob's adoption was totally a spur of the moment thing. I was in the dentist's office for a cleaning and I was telling my dental hygienist about adopting Isis and that I had never had an orange cat. Then she tells me her vets office has a little orange cat up for adoption. I went home and called to make sure the cat was still there, then grabbed a PTU and headed off to go get him. When I got there all I could see was a little bit of orange fur poking out from under his bed. Then we got him out of his cage and he was HUGE. Turned out he was 5 years old and his original family just didn't want him anymore. So off I went to fill out the paper work while the vet gave him one last check over. When we put him in the PTU he almost didn't fit. He is a wonderful boy but very scared all the time. He ducks his head every time I reach down to pet him, like he thinks I'm going to hit him. He doesn't know how to play with toys and once I got one of those toys with a fuzzy hanging from a stick and he was so afraid of the stick he ran and hid for hours. Now we only have the fuzzy part, the stick I trashed. Thank goodness he and Romeo are such good buds, it's the only time he really plays.
