5th picture Meme

Millie's House tagged us for the 5th picture meme. So we are to
Open your file folders (pictures),
click on the fifth folder,
and then the fifth photo,
Post the photo to your blog and describe it.
Then tag 5 other bloggers.

Here is our picture, 5th of 5th folder.

This is Elvira. I adopted her to keep company with a red chicken that showed up in my backyard, eating the bird seed on the ground. They stayed in and around the yard for about 2 years. One day I noticed Vivian (the red chicken) hadn't been around for a while. We figured a coyote got her. Then one night I heard Elvira screaming in the backyard. A stray cat had her. I chased off the cat, but Elvira looked dead. I scooped her up to take her into the garage and she came around. She had lots of punctures and missing feathers. I doctored her the best I could and put her in my biggest PTU for the night. I kept her in a cage and fed her crickets and chicken feed for a few weeks and then took her to the barn where there were a bunch of other chickens and she moved in like she belonged.
I miss them. It was cool having chickens in the yard.

I can't think of any blogs to tag that haven't already done this. But it was kind of fun, so if you haven't been tagged, go for it :)

Zoolatry made Romeo a Star

We are sure getting spoiled :)

Jeannie has found the porch

And I'll probably never see her inside again. She seems to have made herself right at home now. There's been no growls or hisses from anyone. I'm the only thing that spooks her now. Time. That's all we need now. And photos will be hard to get, she scoots around so fast.

True Art

From Zoolatry of course.
Ann says it's sung "loosely" (very loosely) to the tune of the Soliloquy from Carousel, also sometimes called "My Boy Bill"...

My Boy Bob
I will see that his home is the best.
My Boy Bob
he'll be treated quite well, and
whenever he wants - he will rest.
With his orange gold stripes,
and his head held high,
And his paws planted firm on the ground.
You won't see a cat - dare to try,
to toss him or boss him around!

He's My Boy Bob...
now, quiet please -
and hush, not a sound!
From Jeannie, nor Isis, nor Ro-meo.
Not Babe and not Summer... No, oh No!

No one will boss Bob around!
No, no one will boss Bob around...
if he wakes up, that is...

HA!

Romeo-- I have 'Best multi-directional toehawk'. It sez so right here HA! If you vote for me, I promise to let everyone have the chance to come over and pet me and admire my wonderful floofs and toehawks. This is my platform and my solemn oath to all cat bloggers.

A Wonderful Award :)

We got this award from The Chesney Cats. Thank you so much for thinking of us.

Here are the rules :

"This blog invests and believes the PROXIMITY - nearness in space, time and relationships! These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to eight kitties who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award."

We would like to pass it on to all the good, kind, critter loving blogs out there. You know who you are :)

What's with the hand

licking,Purr, licking, purr, licking, purr -----BITE? Is that her way of saying stop? Or is she just making sure my hand is clean enough for her to bite?

HUGE progress with Jeannie

You need to picture the floor of the linen closet, me sitting outside the door. The camera on the floor with no way to see what it's pointed at. I'm reaching all the way to the back. She loves head and chin scritches. Also, rubbing inside her ear! She'd never admit it, but she was purring. I wish you could hear it. This little session lasted over 10 minutes :)

He always gets there first

I can never get the bed changed fast enough. Bob always manages to get in there when I'm not looking and take over. Then, of course, I have to wait until he wakes up.

I need to work on my bathroom stealth

Just scared Jeannie. Looked for her before I went in the bathroom, didn't see her. Figured she was in the closet. I went in and had just closed the screen door and she flew from behind the toilet, almost crashed into the screen, u-turned into the closet. Scared me too. I probably undid any progress I'd made the last 2 days......

Find Isis

All you can see is her tongue and her back foot toe nails. Once again, sorry about the loud TV.

Don't you just love the new images???

I sure do. Ann at Zoolatry did them for us. So talented and giving. Aren't cat people the best?

She hissed at me!

When I changed her water and gave her some stinky goodness, She hissed at me! Personally, I think that's good. Before she was so scared she just shrunk down and trembled. I'm glad she felt strong enough to stand up to me.

Isis and Romeo say Hi to Jeannie

Last night after I went to bed, I could hear Jeannie meowing. So I very quietly peeked around the corner and there was Romeo sitting there looking at her. She finally came out of the PTU and was sitting there talking to Romeo. Isis was close by, but was too cool to acknowledge her. She was busy washing her leg. Jeannie has moved out of the PTU into my linen closet - way in the back.

Some more stuff about Jeannie

Jeannie is 4 years old. She was a feral that lived on a golf course where a nice man was feeding and catching the kitties. Jeannie had one litter of babies before she was caught with them. All her babies were adopted at @ 8 weeks old, but Jeannie was too scared and no one wanted her when they found out she was feral and not a lap cat. Pat (the lady with "Second Chance for Strays") had her spayed and up to date with her shots, she was with Pat for a year in her laundry room. Pat was able to pet Jeannie, but never pushed holding her. Pat told me that I could adopt her because I have had feral cats before and new I wouldn't push too fast with her.

Jeannie stayed in the PTU all night. Except I know she checked out the litter box, there are tiny little foot prints in it. She didn't eat, but that's not surprising. When I check on her, she just stares at me with huge eyes. I hope she relaxes soon, I hate seeing her so upset.

So this is where she is, I have a screen door I put in front of the bathroom door so she can get used to house noise but none of the other furkids can bother her. So far they don't act like they even know she's here.

OMC - I've done it again!!

I saw this beauty online through Pet Finders. I kept going back and looking at her. I thought I've got 5, one more won't make much of a difference - right? I called about her thinking if she's still up for adoption and I can have her, it was meant to be - Right? So she's in my bathroom right now, scared to death and such a tiny girl. The other guys haven't noticed her yet, but once she calms down she should be OK. She was in a laundry room with 10 - 12 other cats and they were all getting along fine. It should work out. There was a Tortie in with her that was returned because he played in the water bowl and made puddles all around. He was so sweet, I was tempted.

Question - She is due for her vaccines and I have them to give to her. Should I do it now while she is still scared and get all the scary stuff over in one day or wait till she's more comfortable?

Oh, I think I'm going to name her Jeannie. You youngsters won't remember this, but there was a T V show way back called "I Dream of Jeannie" and I immediately thought her eyes looked like Jeannie in the show.

I'm Innocent - NOT

Don't I look so cute and sweet? Well, I'm not! I keep chasing the old girls, Babe and Summer, and I'm really good at scaring them. Mom sure can yell, but that doesn't even slow me down.

Clean and fluffy

Mom took me to the groomer yesterday. Now I'm all soft and pretty, Mom keeps sticking her face in my fur, she's crazy.
