Marty the kitten needs surgery

Forever Homes for Everyone has a heartbreaking post about a little kitten who needs a lot of help to pay for a lifesaving surgery. (Or he'd be sent to the bridge way too soon).

Handi Pets also has info about Marty. I made a small donation and received a very appreciative email in return. Here it is:

I want to take the time to sincerely thank you for your generosity; thank you so much for donating to Marty. Your help is so appreciated and I hope others elsewhere soon begin to follow your lead and donate as well. I hope you know what an amazing and caring person you are by helping Marty. I never even imagined that complete strangers would help our kitten, and so many people have proved me wrong. I check his page so many times a day and am so appreciative each time there is a new donation. Please spread the word to fellow animal lovers and friends so that Marty has a chance to live a great life. You truly are now one of Marty's angels and we will keep you posted on how everything goes. Thank you again for supporting Brad and I; It means so much. I have complete faith that Marty will get his surgery soon. We have a new consultation next Monday, so I'm going to talk face to face to the surgeon directly about doing a payment plan. To say the least, the hospital hasn't been much help at all. I'm hoping by going in and talking to the surgeon himself, and not through assistants and receptionists, I can figure out a way to wave some costs. Thanks for your concern and helping us out!

♡Romeo's Gotcha Day♡

The Mom promised she wouldn't forget my Gotcha Day like she forgot my Birthday.
I've been here 2 years now, and feel I've got her almost completely trained. I've become very good friends with Bob and Jeannie. The others - not so much.

Here are some things I like to do here :-)

Seems like only yesterday I was delivered by the attorney . (see Romeo's story @ 1/2 way down the page.)I'm such a good boy, I never pick fights but I'm always ready for a good chase around the house. Bob and Jeannie are my soul mates. Mom says I get all the credit for helping Jeannie feel at home. I hope my first Mom is looking down and seeing how happy and spoiled I am.

Pee

Bob has a bad UTI. The Vet couldn't get a sample at the office, so we did the pee-in-the-plastic-beads thing. I'll take the sample in and since it's for sure a UTI, he'll give me a shot to give poor Bob. How is it cats can hide pain so well? I feel so bad that I didn't catch it sooner. Look how much blood is in that pee.

She FORGOT my Birthday

On November 1st mom didn't even remember my birthday. I'm 6 years old now. A definite mancat now. Revenge will be swift and severe.

Sophie's story

It all started with a normal trip to Petsmart. I try to hurry past the kitties up for adoption, but yesterday I peeked in. There was a beautiful long hair tuxie girl that was 6 1/2 yo. She was so sweet and loving. I stayed in there way too long. All the way home I thought about her. All night long I thought about her. I even gave her a name. Marlo. So I go back today to get her. I know, I need another cat like I need a mole with hair on my nose. BUT, she's gone!! I missed her by 45 minutes. Not meant to be. So I start scritching a pretty calico girl and one employee after another comes in and tells me her story. She's been in that cage 2 months, she's affectionate and a beauty. SOLD. Her name is Sophie, she's 1 yo and she's a leaner. She rubs and leans against my legs. She has beautiful gold eyes, but she manages to blink with the camera flash...

Jeannie's story

Jeannie joined our family on February 3, 2009. I was looking at all the kitties in our area that needed forever homes. Something about her sweet little face made me keep going back to look at her again and again. I still don't know why, but I sent off an email asking about her. I told myself if it was meant to be, then what's one more furkid? I received an answer to my email saying she was a feral kitty and had been asked about many times, but since she wasn't a lap cat, nobody wanted her. Well we've been down that road many times and I was able to adopt her. Jeannie had been living on a golf course and had at least 2 litters of babies. All her babies were caught and have forever homes. She is about 5 years old, and is a very tiny, delicate girl.

Babe's story

Babe is one of the feral cats my Mom caught. She was Mom's cat along with her other two. After Mom passed, I took care of all three of her cats. Her two original cats went to the rainbow bridge very shortly after Mom died. She had Babe for eight years and I've had her now for nine more years. Babe is my CRF girl. When she was first diagnosed with CRF I thought I'd only have her for a few more weeks, but she has surprised both me and the vet and is doing great with only sub-q fluids three times a week.

Romeo's story

I found Romeo online. I received an email from a friend about him. His Mom was in a nursing home and not coming back (she didn't know she was staying there forever). So her family was trying to find a home for Romeo. She had an attorney that was to find a good home for Romeo if anything ever happened to her. I had to actually apply to get him. References and essay about me. Once her family had me checked out I was able to pick him up at the attorneys office. I had only been told he was 5 years old and very fluffy. Turned out he's a pure himalayan. I don't think he had ever seen another cat until I brought him home. He's very friendly and is best friends with Bob and Jeannie.

Isis's story

Bob's story

Bob's adoption was totally a spur of the moment thing. I was in the dentist's office for a cleaning and I was telling my dental hygienist about adopting Isis and that I had never had an orange cat. Then she tells me her vets office has a little orange cat up for adoption. I went home and called to make sure the cat was still there, then grabbed a PTU and headed off to go get him. When I got there all I could see was a little bit of orange fur poking out from under his bed. Then we got him out of his cage and he was HUGE. Turned out he was 5 years old and his original family just didn't want him anymore. So off I went to fill out the paper work while the vet gave him one last check over. When we put him in the PTU he almost didn't fit. He is a wonderful boy but very scared all the time. He ducks his head every time I reach down to pet him, like he thinks I'm going to hit him. He doesn't know how to play with toys and once I got one of those toys with a fuzzy hanging from a stick and he was so afraid of the stick he ran and hid for hours. Now we only have the fuzzy part, the stick I trashed. Thank goodness he and Romeo are such good buds, it's the only time he really plays.
