Thanks for your suggestions

I appreciate your suggestions about giving a pill to Jeannie. Believe me all ideas are welcome. I was using a towel, it was her teeth that got me when I tried to push the pill in her mouth. She just clamped down on my finger and wouldn't let go. I've given hundreds of pills before and never had this much of a fight. I think she was just so totally freaked out by being held down, she went into such a fright/fight mode. I should have waited until she trusted me more. It was too soon to try it and I found that out the ouch way. She gives me the old stink eye every time she walks by now.

She's 2 months over due for her rabies vaccine, but I think it's safe to wait a while before I upset her by going to the vets. She doesn't go out, and she was inside the rescue shelter for a year. I've gone longer with my old girls because I was poor for a while so Jeannie can have a reprieve for now.

I understand the eye that the kitties give to you. When Praline was so sick two weeks ago, she had to go to the vet three times. Lately, every time I go to reach for her to pick her up, she runs under the bed so I can't get her.

Here's another suggestion: Why not go to the vet with her right now when she's already hissed off? The vet could give her the pill, too. That way he's the "bad one" and not you.
We hope the ouchie is healing up already!

P.S.: Chilli will be getting her second shot for leucosis today - let's see how she will react as the last time she went to the vet was horrible for her.

My Melody was so bad at the vets that the vet gave me a sleepy pill to give her, this was about a half hour before leaving for the vets. It was hard giving her a pill, she hated it, but the sleepy pill worked wonders.

We can spit a pill clear across the room...we don't like the pills...at all. We Ernie was alive, mom had to give him a suppository, he shot that clear across the room. ...funny

I hate giving my cats pills. The only thing that works for me is holding their heads straight back and up so the pill just goes right down their throat. Easier said than done however! Good luck!

Not sure whether to say Poor Mommy or Poor Jeannie... what a dilemma.
We vote for "vet now", get the anger mode over all at once!

It's very easy here. Olivia luckily almost never gets sick - she can hide a pill in her mouth for a long time. But Cliff - who does get sick - is so fond of food that we just stick the pill in some food (pork liver paté is a favorite) and he gulps them right down. We hope she gets well and trusty again soon.
